Tram & Justin held a traditional Vietnamese tea ceremony the day before their wedding in July, kicking off two full days of festivities with their families! We have never been a part of a tea ceremony before, so we were so excited to photograph it. We arrived to Tram’s parents’ house early that morning, where everyone was already dressed in the most gorgeous, colorful traditional garments. The bride, along with her family and bridesmaids were in the house, as Justin and his groomsmen and family arrived. As the ceremony began, Tram was hidden away in her bedroom, as the bridesmaids met the groomsmen outside to receive the gifts – then they were all carried inside, where the introductions began. Tram’s uncle was the MC, and introduced the bride’s side of the family, followed by Justin’s father introducing his side – then it was time for Tram’s mom to retrieve her from the bedroom, and bring her out to her groom! Tram & Justin then offered tea to every member of their family, and received gifts in exchange. Afterwards, the family was treated to a Vietnamese feast prepared by Tram’s grandmother, and we headed outside for some photos. It was a great way to start off the weekend, and we always love seeing the way different cultures and families celebrate. We continued the festivities the next day, so stay tuned for part two coming up next!
